A few notes :
  • This is a whopping big post. It's because I was determined to have at least one whoppingly big post this year since I havent posted as much as I would like too.
  • TEXT. I experimented with it this time and would actually like to think I succeded because I quite like what I managed.
  • I also wanted to experiment with cropping but I'm thinking that will take a little more time? CENTRE CROPS, I LOVE YOU.
  • Caps for Sherlock and HP courtesy of the VERY AWESOME [livejournal.com profile] thepicturepool . Without their caply consideration, there would have been more tears on the part of this lazy person.
  • CONCRIT IS ALWAYS WELCOME. AND APPRECIATED.
  • That's all folks. Ta. :)

MY GOD THIS big20in20 SET. ;_; The tears I cried over it were many. Like honestly, when I picked it, I wasn't thinking too much. The themes went up and I was gutted. Not that the themes weren't nice but with the texture set I picked, I could only see myself making the fugliest of icons. So yeah, this was REALLY hard for me. But that being said, I actually like most of what I have hear. Because in the end I threw caution to the wind and did whatever I felt like. In the end not thinking too hard of the end result helped enjoy what I was making.

I enjoyed making this set. It was a lot of fun. :D
Notes :
  • 26 - Amortentia - My favourite thing about HP (OTHER THAN THEIR GLORIOUS FRIENDSHIPS) is the whole feeling of wonder and magic. The first time I ever the books, I too was eleven and I was simply swept by the story and magic and belief in it. I chose that cap of Harry because he looks so awed at the Wizarding World. Kinda of like how I feel. And will always feel, EVEN WHEN I'M OLD AND EIGHTY.
  •  For the House Pride thing, I chose to interpret the basic qualities of the Houses through the Keep Calm Carry On thing because a) I didnt want to use the house symbols and I didnt feel like using caps of people. I wanted to do something a little different. b) The meme is so inherently British so it felt really appropirate you know, using it to showcase the houses?
  • For AC, I chose to icon the 3rd movie because it is my favouritest book & movie of the series.

43 is such an amazing crop, 53 is gorgeously lit, and I really like the tone of 54. 58-59 are lovely too, great use of shadows there. Dig the blurry-sharp-ness~ in 85. AND UNF UNF UNF at 89 <3

Your Big set came out beautifully- I know that feeling. One set of textures is limiting and its like being backed into an iconing corner, but you did such a fabulous job that it doesn't show that tears could be shed. LOL! I adore 4, 5, 8, and 20. Those colors are bright & certainly attract the eye. From your other sets, 39 is wonderful- I admire that cropping/ghost image. The coloring fits the mood of the icon. I love 75- I'm duing for Psych to come back just for more Gus. Wonderful job on all of these. The hard work shows! ♥

Okay, first of all, you have flawless taste. Katherine/Elijah? YES PLEASE. MORE OF THAT.

Secondly, there are a lot of gems in this post. For example:
03: Interesting texture use; definitely a fun icon!
07: The scratchy texture over Castiel? Kind of genius. I really love it!
39: That blending! It is so subtle, but really quite cool and interesting. Fabulous composition overall.
43: Love the soft coloring here, and the cropping is brilliant.
51: Again, cropping. Holy crap.
76: CROPPING AGAIN. WHAT EVEN. Also the coloring is gorgeous as well.
86 & 89: Fierce black and white icons.

Okay, but the icons that truly take the cake in this post, at least for me, are the Sherlock icons. 04 is so intriguing, and I find the texture use--instead of overwhelming and intrusive--complex and interesting. It definitely works. 16 is just simply gorgeous. It puts me in mind of something [livejournal.com profile] fouroux might do only, of course, with your own spin on it. Definitely a great icon! 17 and 19 both have really fabulous text work as well. But, hands down, my favorites are 18 and the text alternate 57. Just. Wow. No words. Sublime icon. I'm not even kidding. I'm really rather attached to my current Ruby default, but 57? Yeah, it might just make me switch my default for the first time in a couple months. It is definitely going into my user pics either way.

Wonderful job! ♥

These are so beautiful! Your big20 set is just flawfree. IN LOVE with the coloring on the artist choice group in the hpelite claim. All the black and white icons are executed to perfection, too. LOVELY STUFF!

Your crops and compositions are so unique, and even just with that these icons would be gorgeous, but add in your astounding coloring and they are really really amazing. May I nominate some at [livejournal.com profile] hp_awards?
