Notes:

This movie has become one of my all-time favourites. And I've been wanting to icon it for a while. The current challenge at 10in30 seemed like the perfect oppurtunity!

If you hover on the icons, you will find a small explanation of why I chose matched that particular trope to that icon. The explanations also give away a few plot details so if you want to watch the movie and don't want to be spoiled, avoid hovering on the icons.

Sam is skinny and awkward but he's also a really capable and confident child.

Mr. Bishop (Suzy's dad) is deeply unhappy with his life.

Captain Sharp begins as a bumbling, sad policeman but by the end of the movie, he's come to really like Sam and ends up adopting Sam.

Suzy struggles with her temper and has a tendency to go 'berserk'.

For a 12 year old who's going to run away with his girl-friend, Sam is ridiculously prepared and has the entire trip planned out.

Suzy feels like she's the unfavourite in her family because her parents are struggling with their own issues and think she's a problem child.

Sam and Suzy have the sweetest love story ever. Who knows what will happen when they become older, but for one its very very cute.

Social Services (that's her name) is intimidating and scary. Also, the alternate arrangements she has for Sam are really unpleasant and scary.

The movie has a narrator who has sections where he talks to the audience about the island, it's weather and the upcoming storm.

I love this movie, it was so different and cool. And these icons are crazy gorgeous, the sort of vintagey vibe really fits the subject! It's hard to choose favorites out of so many amazing ones but wow, I loooove the coloring on 1 (super cool color combination and I love that it sort of combines matte and lighting-y elements), the colors and crop and lighting on 2, and basically all the colorings. Especially on 3, just wow. The lighting and purple/yellow coloring on 7 look fantastic too. Loving 16 and 20 too. Amazing set!! :)
