Notes : Thoughts and feelings of which I have plenty shall be posted tomorrow.
- You were promised feelings. You shall receive them.
Let's forget about the part where no one asked. I LIKE TALKING ABOUT FEELINGS. - I was feelings really uninspired at first with the iconquest challenge at first. I mean, whatever I tried, it all felt like a steaming pile of shit. Turned out all I needed to do was step away for awhile. I feel pretty pleased with what I have now. And I'm especially proud that I wrangled some text icons that I like. ARIAL BLACK FTW. ( I only noticed the mistake in the Annie icon now. BOO ;_;)
- Cutting out backgrounds is fun now that I discovered how to do it. I think I will now beat this technique into the ground by overusing it.
- For the iconquest challenge, the reason I chose Community was because : a) I LOVE THE SHOW. Any reason to icon is welcome. b) Every episode in Community is an Adventure. And because I'm nothing but literal, I picked Advanced Dungeons and Dragons to icon as well as Remedial Chaos Theory.
- I will shut up now.

Date: Wednesday, 11 July 2012 08:15 am (UTC)Fishsticks. I need to rephrase that. I dont cut the background cut but I cut the character out. Anyhow, here is what I do if you still want to know. :)
I use PSP X and in that, there is the Freehand selection tool. I choose the selection type as Point to Point so that the selection takes the shape of the subject and using the trackpad of my laptop, I carefully select the subject I want to cut out. After I've selected the subject, I go to the Selections drop down menu, where I pick Modify and in Modify's drop down menu, I first select Contract. Contract cause the selection to hug the subject's lines closer. I set Contract to 1 or 2 pixels. After Contract, I pick Feather which is also in Modify drop drown menu and I set feather to 1 or 2 pixels. Feather smoothes the selection and takes out jagged edges. Then, I go to the Edit Image menu, select Cut and paste the cut out subject on a new canvas and add a background of my choice and then work on the image accordingly. Before I use to mask out backgrounds with a layer mask and I found it incredibly painstaking because my trackpad's a bit of a pain to use. Also, I didn't always have the patience to mask out all the edges. The technique I learnt recently makes it a lot easier for me so there. :)
F-Yeah. Community has some of the best episode names ever. :D
