Community - 20 for
20inspirations
Okay, so the theme for
20inspirations this time was Adventures in Wonderland with the idea behind the theme being that you need to make icons which are unusual and unexpected, at least for you that is.
As per usual, I picked Community as my claim and then sat on my hands wondering what to do.
For you see, when I icon, all I do is crop and colour, with the occasional bout of text because that is how I enjoy iconning. I will also admit, I dont pay that much attention to composition because it is not my jam. So for this time's theme, I decided that I would go heavy on the composition and texture use because I never ever do that. I mean, I do use textures but not in the way that I have here and I stay the hell away from attempting composition.
At first, I did think I was making hot messes but later on I gave up worrying and made the hot messes. It was fun to do so. And yes, there is plenty of text here but idk man, I just wanted to put text on ALL the icons this time. Also yes, I did want to make most of my icons blue this time. The reasoning eludes me however.
In conclusion, I had plenty of fun doing this, even tho my steam fizzled out towards the end (which is so evident in the last row of icons) and I hope you will like looking at them.
Also, I will list out the inspirations for the icons tomorrow bc I am lazy. :D

Date: Thursday, 19 June 2014 10:18 am (UTC)I am really loving the whole idea of #2, and #5 is just stunning; I love the softness of it. And then you hit me with row 6-10 where each and every icon was flawless. I mean, geez, they just got better and better as I went along that row. And I was already pretty impressed with 'ordinary people' (which is a perfect use of text over the face, btw, and and really awesome use of grungy textures and also green and pretty much everything I just really love this icon okay) so the rest of the row being even better? Hot damn.
#7 is really cool because there's so much vibrant color in everything else (and in most of your usual stuff) so this lack of color is really interesting and unique here, and there's an indistinct quality about it as well that really works. #8 works together really well; the crop, the texture use, the in your face color, and the in your face (hah!) text all create this perfect atmosphere of panic and urgency that matches what the text says as well. And you have somehow managed to make #9 look like it should be something out of Hannibal? And I'm not really sure how you did that, but it is incredibly cool. I love it! And #10 almost makes me ship Jeff/Annie again because it is just flawless. I love everything about it!!
AND IS #12 ABED OVER HOT LAVA?!! PLEASE TELL ME IT IS. THAT IS SO GREAT AND CREATIVE AND FUN AND PERFECT. AHHH! #15 is also gorgeous, and I love the simple poetic style of it.
Great job! <3

Date: Saturday, 21 June 2014 06:55 pm (UTC)Seriously though, this was such a fantastic comment to read and it put such a smile on my face. :')
I am kind of glad you like 7. I am all for colours but I thought pushing myself this time should also involve dialling down on the colours.
I so wish I could take the credit for #12 but the cap already had Abed over hot lava. I just provided the jazzing up and text.
Thank you once again for this BEAUTIFUL comment! <3
